Egg Poachers

There are two types of egg poachers: those that cook over the stove, and those that are electric. An over the stove egg poacher looks like a sauté pan with small metal pans in its interior. The main pan has an interior metal layer, upon which rests either four or six individual circular pans, into which you put the eggs for poaching. Over the stove egg poachers typically have one long handle and come with a lid. Some over the stove egg poachers allow you to take each egg container out individually. This provides an excellent advantage in that you can cook the eggs to varying degrees, according to how well-done your guests prefer them.

Over the stove egg poachers come in a variety of metals, but are most commonly found in aluminium and stainless steel. The interior egg cups may be found in either non-stick lined or regular. This is an excellent time to purchase non-stick lining, as it will greatly assist in releasing the egg from the container.

Electric egg poachers come in a variety of shapes and sizes; typically they cook from four to seven eggs. Most have trays for containing the eggs, a water reservoir, and timers. Some electric egg poachers have a dial for setting how well-done you want the eggs.

Egg poachers enable chefs to easily poach eggs for Eggs Benedict and a variety of other uses.
